What's included ? - 1 FULL DAY RUNNING SUNRISE TO SUNSET ACROSS 3 LOCATIONS. + after course online Post-Editing class
Outline and Locations: This full day workshop starts off with Sunrise at Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset which is one of the top photographic locations on the Jurassic Coast, packed with incredible views and unique features that offers an endless stream of incredible shooting opportunities. We then move onto Durdle Door and Man 'O' War Bay for our mid day session which is a location known well by many, and one which always offers stunning views and shooting possibilities. Our final destination for late afternoon and Sunset is Portland near Weymouth which is another top location on the Jurassic coast mixing natural features and textures along with man made structures such as Portland Bill Lighthouse.
Note: Should there be large crowds expected at locations such as Durdle Door, I will amend this location for a suitable alternate such as Chapmans Pool Cliffs.
What is covered on the course ?: Over the course of the day we will run through all the core elements of seascape photography which will include -
Location choice and preparation.
Understanding Light and how it affects both mood and texture.
Our Eyes vs the Camera.
Dynamic Range and the use of Filters / Multiple Exposures.
Framing and Composition / subject choice.
Wide angle Vs Zoom.
Short / Long / Ultralong exposures.
Shooting Monochrome.
What is included / Excluded ?. The course fee includes all tuition, late lunch at the Lobsterpot Cafe at Portland and the post course online editing session. Attendees will be required to use their own transport between locations** - Please note that there are parking charges at all locations although these are fairly moderate. Attendees should also be aware that they are responsible for their own travel/kit insurance whilst on the course. The host accepts no liability for any personal injury or damage caused to equipment whilst on the course.
Traveling from other regions: - If you require any help securing accommodation if traveling from other regions please get in touch and we will be happy to help where we can.
Physical difficulty and what to bring: - Most locations are within a short walking distance of parking, although Durdle Door does include a 20 min walk including a fairly steep incline, All locations involve some walking on uneven ground and across rocky areas so attendees should be of a reasonable physical fitness and without any physical disability of such a nature that may put you at risk.
This course is primarily designed for those using a DSLR or Mirrorless system with interchangeable lenses. You should also bring along memory cards, spare batteries and a Tripod, + any filter systems you may wish to use. For those without filters, there may be the option to borrow a set for the duration. Please also ensure that you dress accordingly for the conditions including where appropriate waterproof gear and sturdy footwear/boots.
Course fees and booking: - The full course fee is £130.00 p/p which includes a £65.00 deposit to secure. The course balance will be due no later than 1 month prior to the course date ( a reminder email will be sent) . To book please click HERE to go to our booking contact page. If you wish to book more than 1 slot (friend or family) we will offer a 10% discount per person booked onto the same course.
Cancelation policy: You can cancel your course at any point subject to the following terms.
If you wish to cancel a workshop booking you must advise us in writing/email at least 30 days before the workshop commencement date. For cancellations made within this time you will be refunded the workshop fee, less the deposit. or the chance to move to an alternate date. For cancellations made less than 30 days before the workshop commencement date you will be liable for the full workshop fee.
In the unlikely event we have to cancel a workshop due to extreme weather or other reason beyond our control, we will contact you as soon as is reasonably possible. Upon cancellation, we will offer you a full refund of your payment (including deposit), or you can transfer any payments already made to an alternative Workshop.
** Due to the recent huge increases in hire charges for mini-buses which are now in excess of £350.00 p/day in many cases, we have recently made the decision NOT to include this facility in the interests of keeping course fees to a reasonable level.
