MASTERING THE ART

'Mastering The Art' is a series of live educational lectures specifically designed for clubs, schools, and other institutions to help students build awareness, knowledge and confidence in their photography as an art form.
Monochrome Photography (without the distraction of colour) has the capacity to focus the viewers attention down to the simplest bare elements of detail, texture, Light and tone.
As photographers, we then use these elements to create mood and a story, be that traditional mono, or the more impactful low key or high key variants. This talk shows how we can use our camera and our minds eye to see the world in black and white, and how the nature of light at the time of shooting plays such a significant part in the genre as a whole and onto our final result. We also cover the technicalities of shooting in different conditions, and the different styles we can accomplish by adapting to those conditions even on the brightest of days. The talk concludes with tips and tricks on editing, and a bit of myth busting.
